Introduction:

Cosmotologist is the career that I have wanted for a long time. It deals with hairstyling, nail designing, and much much more.

COSMETOLOGIST

Salary and benefits:

Acccording to my research, the median hourly wage for barbers, hairdressers, and cosmetologists was $10.95 in May 2012.

$22,770 per year.

Working Environment:

I would most likely be working in a salon. Surrounded by other cosmetologist. or beautician.  Many works part time but most cosmetologist were self-emplpoyed.

Work Values:

Relationships. You got to have a really good relationships with others especially the customers and coworkers.

Independence. You have to know how to be independent. You can't just ask your customer how to use scissors. i mean weird.

Duties and responsibilities:

Keep work stations clean and sanitize tools such as scissors and combs.

Cut, trim and shape hair or hairpieces, based on customers' instructions, hair type and facial features, using clippers, scissors, trimmers and razors.

Develop new styles and techniques.

Working with data:

They would memorize each supplies' purpose. They would also memorize the combinations of hair dyes and other hairstyles.

Working with things:

First, of course we got to learn how to use scissors and razors. That would be our main priority. Also we got to learn how to handle the other things.

Working with people:

I think this job is MAINLY about working with people. I do love to interact with other people. I would like to get along with my customers and my coworkers.

Required aptitudes and abilities:

Arm-Hand Steadiness. The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.

Near Vision. The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Visualization. The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.

Fluency of Ideas. The ability to come up with a number of ideas about a topic (the number of ideas is important, not their quality, correctness, or creativity).

Working Hours:

Most cosmetologists work 40 hours per week on average.

Career/Job outlook:

According to my research, Employment of barbers, hairdressers, and cosmetologists is projected to grow 13 percent from 2012 to 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Most job openings will result from the need to replace workers who leave the occupation.

Education and/or training required:

High school diplomas can get you a position in the salon. But some places around the world does require the cosmetologist to go to cosmetology school. Full program in cosmetology usually takes 9 months.

CONCLUSION:

I know this job doesn't pay much, but it's something I like to do. To me, I kinda don't care if I don't get paid a lot. The only thing that matter is that I love what I'm doing..
